Backyard ultras are a simple game that becomes an ugly one. Four point one six seven miles. Before the hour is up you are on the line again. The last person who can still do that wins. Everyone else is an assist.
On 26 June 2025 in Queensland, Phil Gore did it 119 times. Sam Harvey did it 118 times and then stopped, which is how a world record is politely made. 797.9 kilometers. The number has not moved.
Łukasz Wróbel had held 116 for a month after Legends in Belgium. Sarah Perry took the women's record to 95 at Big's last October, on a night that also produced 21 personal records and 34 national ones. Harvey Lewis finished third of the men with two broken ribs and a torn hamstring. The final 10 hours of that stream drew something like 300,000 viewers — more than the English-language UTMB feed the same season.
This is why Kick Rocks ranks backyard as its own format. ITRA and UTMB Index are trail tools. They do not explain 95 yards on a 641 ITRA, or 80 yards on a 763. The sport inside the sport needed its own desk. Big's week in October is when that desk goes live.
